Jon, I really think you need to check yourself. A little on Holtz:

Coached at William & Mary for 3 years. No record of NCAA violations that I can find. But he did have a great quote while he was there "It seems like I've got more Marys than Williams on my team." love it.

Coached at North Carolina State for 4 years. No record of NCAA violations that I can find.

Coached at Arkansas for 8 years. No record of NCAA violations that I can find.

Coached at Minnesota for 2 years. Holtz was cited for 2 violations while at Minnesota, he gave $250 to an unidentified player to pay for a class that the player had to take so he wouldn't lose his eligibility. He also gave player Roselle Richardson $35 to reimburse him when he lost his wallet. Holtz acknowledged both violations, said the mistakes were his, and apologized.

Coached at Notre Dame for 11 years. Notre Dame was later put on probation for the actions of a booster, Kimberly Dunbar, who gave gifts, money, and sexual favors to some players. The NCAA said that Holtz should have done more to find out about the situation and take action. They called his efforts "inadequate" though there was no citation for control or even monitoring. Holtz apparently began an investigation when he heard about Dunbar being involved with one of the players, Derrick Mayes, but dropped it when told it was a romantic relationship.

Coached at South Carolina for 5 years. South Carolina was later put on probation, only 1 violation involved Holtz in that he knew of summer workouts that 5 athletes felt were not voluntary. Holtz again accepted responsibility and apologized. (In my opinion, this whole thing about "voluntary" summer workouts is a joke. They aren't voluntary, not at any major program including Nebraska.)

And yes, Lou Holtz, was a GREAT motivational speaker. Don't know whether he still is or not. Here is a link with some of his quotes:
