> Chris Coleman, Husker meteorologist.
Yes, and as I recall, he once told me he was no (known) relation to
John Coleman, a TV meteorologist who was in Omaha at one point in
his career. (John was later one of the co-founders of the Weather Channel.)
I don't know what's become of Bapi Gupta, he sort of dropped off the
map a few years back.
Some years back I wrote a post on the early history of the Husker List,
I'll have to see if I still have a copy of it and repost it.
We're on the 4th or 5th server to run the Husker List since it started
in 1991, and most of the old posts bit the dust long ago due to software
changes or hardware problems over the years.
And there were some memorable ones, like the guy who picked up a traffic
ticket rushing out to get a copy of USA Today to see who the Huskers
had signed on National Letter of Intent day, only to discover that the
Husker List already had the full list, including discussion of each signee's
potential.
But I think my all-time favorite was from the Husker fan who was in
eastern Eruope over New Years Day and found a cybercafe at around 9 AM
where he could access the web cast that I was doing back then to tune in
to the Huskers bowl game. These days ESPN does webcasts for dozens of
games every week. I should have patented that idea!
And I also enjoyed the note I got from a Husker Lister who was following
the Huskers one season while in Antarctica. (As far as I know, we haven't
had a Husker Lister in space, but we've definitely hit all the
continents.)
