I don't know.  If anyone has paid attention to what Mack has said over the years, he's always been a very respectful guy and he's consistently said that there's pretty much no team he respects more than the Huskers and their fans.  He's said that every single time since the first time his team played in Lincoln.

I don't doubt Mack's sincerity one bit.  I actually respect for how straight forward he is about his team.

I recall quite a few years when Switzer would similarly 'talk up the Huskers'.  I always considered it psychological warfare.  It should be considered such now, as well
