But it has never been a 'mathematical formula', it is a combination of two HUMAN POLLS
and multiple computer polls, none of which will completely agree with each other so 
obviously they are all subjective, even the 'mathematical'ones.

You mean the AP poll that ORIGINATED the concept of a national champion in football, 
decades before it got Balkanized by a second poll and then BCS'd?
