Is it reasonable to assume you probably haven't spent much time in 
Bloomington?  After living here for some seven years, I can say the 
portrayal of University-local relationships in "Breaking Away" was 
not entirely fiction.  Some condescension toward locals may be 
typical of most schools, but I never noticed it in Nebraska or West 
Lafayette.

I realize that attitudes toward the locals is not the same 
thing as attitudes toward other schools, but they're probably not 
unrelated.
