= On going to the Big10++ =
I too am looking forward to NU being in the Big10++, but bad calls are
an unfortunate part of the game and there will certainly be future
Nebraska losses which fans feel were caused by bad officiating.
= OL Concerns =
Martinez was injured when an NU lineman Mike Caputo was completely man
handled by A&M's Eddie Brown, Jr. - an example of my concerns about the OL.
A lot of teams have successful and balanced offenses without an option
QB. NU needs to be better at running that kind of offense. With this
OL, NU needs to be able the pass to setup the run when facing top-40
rushing defenses.
= Reviews? =
I wonder if the A&M player's "assault" of Cotton will be reviewed by the
league. Any word on whether ISU's A.J. Klein's twisting of Burkhead was
reviewed?
= Effect of Pelini's Behavior =
I'd be surprised if a recruit passed on NU due to Pelini's tirade.
Getting chewed out by coaches (and even team captains) is part of the game.
I'm not a fan of Pelini's behavior, but I think we are making too much
of it. I've seen other coaches ride the refs and yell at their players
- we notice Pelini more because we follow NU. Would it be good if he
toned it down a bit, perhaps making the same points to the refs with
less emotional intensity? Probably, but whether riding the refs is
effective or counter productive is anyone's guess.
= Texas A&M finished strong =
Gray's 137 yards rushing (on 26 carries for a 5.3 average) really hurt.
Half of A&M's yards came on the last 2 drives (84 and 68; both ending in
FGs) Of their 317 yards, 241 came in the 2nd half on drives of 33, 56,
84, and 68 yards. Even if you exclude penalty yardage, A&M's offense
got stronger in the 2nd half.
