it would be very difficult for me to accept or condone Bo's behavior  
on the sideline last night.  I understand his frustration .. I was a  
head fb coach for 17 years.  I've seen lots of calls/no calls that I  
thought hurt our team.  I also did my share (some might say more than  
my share) of complaining to officials.  If memory serves me correctly,  
I can only remember getting one call changed due to yelling and then  
discussing it with the white hat.

It took some time for me to understand that I was probably hurting my  
team with my complaining.  It also helped that I had a Principal/AD  
who could see the big picture.  His guidance was very helpful (along  
with a few well-deserved penalties.)  Maturity and experience helped a  
great deal.

In this day of emphasis on sportsmanship (especially at the HS level),  
as an AD, I could not let that type of sideline behavior continue.   
Maybe it is different on a college sideline, but I'm not sure it  
should be or has to be.
