I think this whole issue is getting blown out of proportion. We all can
agree that our defense can be better and it will if our players healthy.
My problem with the whole issue is Bo touted how much better our defense
was going to be after the Holiday Bowl even without Suh and clearly that
is not the case. I must say I enjoy reading the threads on this list
and helps make my day go by faster.

That's a pretty myopic view of things and a silly interpretation of what
I've said. My response was to your implication that 'closeness' of the
ISU game falls squarely on the shoulders of the defense and the reason
it was a close game was because of the defense.

Myself, Bo, Carl and pretty much everyone else have stated that the
defense has room for improvement, so you can lay off the childish
response of "I was wrong...Our defense does not need to play better"
camp does not apply. I take issue with your claim that Bo is spouting
'political speak' or 'lying' about the defense. The conclusion of your
axe to grind was from your own admission that you do not like Bo at all,
not from your comment about how the defense needs to play.

We have a very good, but not great defense. But our defense is
CERTAINLY good enough to win every game and would share a very small
portion of the blame for the ISU game. It would be much more the
offense and the starting field position they gave ISU all day long.

Lastly, sports fans are fickle. 3 years ago, we would have drooled over
a defense like this and now we get "The entire defense is going to have
to gut up and play a whole helluva lot better than it did last
Saturday." We got spoiled last year when at the end of the year some of
the best offenses were unable to move the ball against us. So this
year, since we're not #1 in scoring defense, fans complain.

Yup, I with Dave and am now in "The NU defense is awesome" camp. I made
a big pitcher of Kool-Aid and drank it all in one sitting. Now we just
have to convince Brendan Stai to jump on board. But then what does HE
know about football?
