As I understand it, this is for non-football only.  Or at the very least, very few football games.  The current Big XII contract wouldn't allow it.

Will their live games only be on the Texas Network first? 

I assume they're only going to telecast replays of Texas WINS --- what will they 
do if they have another year like this one? At least they won't have Nebraska to 
beat up on anymore!

According to Chip Brown, Texas has reached an agreement with ESPN that would pay 
$12 million per year to broadcast the Longhorn Network. That amount would be on 
top of the $17 to $20 million UT would receive from the Big 12 TV contracts. 
Brown notes that "one of the reasons" UT decided not to join the Pac 10 was that 
league's insistence that UT drop its plans for its own network. "One of the 
reasons"? Right.
