While I think Ed Cunningham is far from a great analyst, I have to question a few of these comments.
I wasn't aware college players could be fined, just suspended or dismissed.
If Martin's hit was "perfectly legal" why was he suspended. The OSU player he clobbered suffered a severe concussion, not really something to joke about, IMO.
"whose only offense was being bigger, faster, stronger, and better than their competition". Really?
I'd like to see this topic go away as both sides have strong opinions and are not able to change the minds of the other side. But the bottom line, to me is, that players are being injured, sometimes seriously. And that needs to change. Our entertainment should not be predicated on others suffering preventable injuries.
As others have pointed out there were other helmet to helmet hits that were not penalized. The one to Niles Paul in the 1st quarter of the MU game comes to mind. Enforcement needs to be consistent.

Some maintain this is the only place that he is able to withstand the floodwaters of Roger Goodell's incompetence trickling their way down into the college game, others simply note his mediocre broadcasting skills, and applaud him for taking the easy route in falling in line with the hot-button topic of the day.
