(Warning! Danger! This article was written during the weekend of the T*x*s
game - don't read if you still experience a 50-point spike in your systolic
blood pressure when you think about that game ...)

The first picture, showing the Pride of All Nebraska marching to the stadium
surrounded by fans, was featured prominently on the front page of the sports
section in the dead-tree Dispatch.

Best quote from Dr. Tom, probably because of what he didn't say rather than
what he said:

"I think the Big Ten has extended themselves," Osborne said. "They've had
> all kinds of people out here, and we've had meetings. I appreciate the fact
> (Big Ten commissioner) Jim Delany is very conscious of the culture and very
> conscious of the schools. Conferences have made mistakes by ramming people
> together without appropriately doing homework and making sure everybody
> understands each other's culture."
>
> Osborne was too polite to say the obvious - that the conference Nebraska is
> leaving didn't. He has nothing but nice things to say about the Big 12 and
> its commissioner, Dan Beebe.

A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring
one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their
own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the
mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of
good government... - Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address
