When you reread (and then read between the lines) the "official" response from Harvey Perlman's office, it's pretty clear that while all these denials are technically and legally correct (in that there haven't been any official invitations from the Big Ten to any of these schools), it's becoming clear that there have been some sort of informal discussions (likely through intermediaries working on the behalf of the Big Ten).  In fact, the Kietzman report on Monday even mentioned that nothing could be official until the Big Ten presidents vote on it.
