[Husker] questions, questions

I'm pretty sure that Texas didn't want NU to leave -- NU is worth $$ in
whatever conference they play. The let NU leave however because we just
wouldn't "play ball" as some of the smaller schools were doing. To prevent
NU from leaving, TX would have had to back down on several issues including
(1) permanent Cowboy stadium has championship game and more importantly (2)
give up on a Longhorn TV network. Without Texas in the B12TV Network, the
rest of the teams would continue to get peanuts compared to the Big10 and
SEC agreements, while Texas would take the bulk of the TV earnings.

BeeBee, clearly working in behalf of UTx, demanded that NU, et al, declare a
commitment to the Big 12 BEFORE a TV contract was negotiated. An impartial
Chairman would have asked for a commitment for a common TV agreement. By
doing it backwards, it looks like NU is trying to break up the league,
instead of making it look like UTx is the money grubbing school that it is.

So what happens to OU, and TA&M? They get a disproportionate amount of the
severance fees to offset the lower TV revenues. The remaining schools
simply don't have enough clout fight and will have to take whatever is left
over. But even in this regards, UTx gets a large portion of the severance
funds so they win all the way around.

This may have been asked already, but if CU cannot afford to buy out Hawkins
how can they afford to leave the B12?

And from my Kansas cousins -- Nebraska is the "bad guy" that tried to break
up the Conference! Texas "saved" them!

in which case, they should be happy to have NU gone - have you heard
anything like this?
maybe they'll pay NU's leaving-conference the penalty

you know, this seems like an awful lot of trouble for Texas just to get rid
of the one dissenting vote?
and, why get rid of Colorado, then?
