As an independent, they can still schedule the Texas schools.  In fact they would have incentive to do so because they'll need to find games and competition. It's the one way I can see that they can get what they want without having to bring along A&M or Tech.

Maybe they'll just go independent in all sports!  I would think that would be a scheduling nightmare, but hey, they're Texas.  They're not afraid of anything!

I'm not making this up.  Texas has actually threatened to go independent in the past.
