Steve is looking prophetic. But then money will always dictate TX actions -- Laura

I think Texas will stay in the Big 12 as long as it is viable.

The Big 12 is a sweet situation for Texas in that there isn't an even
split of television revenue and they will have the flexibility to create
a Texas network in addition to the conference deal. In the Big 12, they
call the shots and can set up revenue streams to realize their value to
the league. They won't be able to run the Pac 10, Big 10, or SEC like
they can the Big 12. I agree with those who say that Texas' flirtation
with the PAC 10 is a bluff against NU. It is one that may succeed or
may backfire on Texas.

That said, they still are in a strong negotiating position. If you were
the PAC 10 wouldn't you rather have Colorado than Baylor, Kansas than
Oklahoma State, Utah than Texas Tech?

There was talk, years back, about the Big 12 adding Utah, UNLV, and
other schools, but it wasn't pursued and has not been revived.

In the long run, I think NU would reap great benefits and stability in
the Big 10. I hope there really will be an invitation.
