I don't have a great memory but I seem to recall that Dr. Tom's first
problems with TX after the B12 began entailed a concern that NU would
eventually be disadvantaged on the field (the partial qualifiers issue was
part of this but maybe some other stuff too). Back then TX was not as strong
as they are now. I think recent events confirm TO's vision. Getting into the
B10 will at least keep NU from feeding the monster. I wonder if or when OU
will begin to see this as something they need to rid themselves of at some
point. Generally you have to win some of the battles off the field to
compete well on the field. Facilities and good coaches don't come cheaply
and TX will be able to outbid most other schools.
