[Husker] Reflections on the Big Move

The only issue I have with this is timing. Colorado isn't "out" until 2012. Nebraska is "out" in 2011. If the rest of the south goes out in 2012, they could impose a "penalty" on Nebraska in 2011 and vote to disband after that. Texas is sneaky that way.
Also, is the SEC even interested in TAMU? I haven't heard anything there. It will be interesting to see what Texas announces tomorrow - the others will follow the leader.
I'd rather be Nebraska and doing what's right for Nebraska, not waiting for some bully like Texas to tell us what to do!
GBR!

Instead, it'll simply withhold the penalty/fine from the revenue distribution at the end of athletic year (which I think is about this time next year). So, in essence, NU and CU would be the entities that would have to bring lawsuits to get the money back, a more difficult proposition than simply refusing to send a check. Doesn't sound like a very promising scenario to me. My suspicion is that we lose about $10 million in the move to the Big 10, unless the B12 falls apart completely tomorrow, and this is its last year of competition ever.
I suspect you're probably right. I saw something in one of the many articles I read today that I didn't know. The Big 12 is incorporated in Delaware (as are many companies). Under Delaware, law it would require only a majority vote to disband the conference; the Big 12 bylaws are silent on the issue. If you're keeping score at home, NU plus CU plus the five from the BTS equals seven, or exactly enough votes to disband. If all this is correct (I read it on the Internet, so it has to be true), it could get NU out for free.
