Ken -

Don't know if my experience is typical, but living in Columbus, Ohio, I
can't help but think that it is... 8^)

My cable system carries three standard-definition channels and one HD
channel for the Big Ten Network. Most football Saturdays, each of the SD
channels has a different game; the HD channel carries a game that's also on
SD.

The BTN seems to have rights after the TV networks - so, for example, if The
Ohio State University is televised on ABC, the BTN channels will not carry
the game, but instead broadcast other games happening at the same time, or
replays from earlier games. So if you can't get NU live, odds are pretty
good that you can listen to the radio broadcast live and catch a replay
within 24 hours.

Haven't watched a lot of BTN coverage -- that's going to change soon, of
course -- but what I have watched is better produced than Versus or Fox
Sports. The BTN uses a lot of former Big Ten players (e.g., Chris Spielman
from tOSU), some of whom are also broadcasters, so they have some background
about the games they're calling.

Hope that helps.

George
