Congratulations to the Hukers! I am looking forward to establishing
new rivalries and traditions with the new conference.

I do feel badly for Kansas, Kansas State and Iowa State .... to a
point. I understand that those schools have been longtime rivals with
Nebraska, back to the Big 8, the Big 6 and even previous to that.
Those traditions and rivalries have been a great thing for Nebraska
and for college athletics in general.

Having said that and after listening to folks from KU, KSU and ISU
encouraging NU to stay with the Big 12 and then having listened to all
of the complaining from the same folks after the switch was made, I
would say this. Traditions, rivalries and loyalty are two-way
streets. Take a look at all of the 11-1 votes (with NU the 1) that
have taken place in the Big 12. It doesn't seem to me that loyalty,
rivalries and traditions were very important to KU, KSU and ISU then,
does it? More times than not, those same school that are now upset
with Nebraska for leaving sided with the Texas vote. Those long-time
rivalries, traditions and Big 8/6 ties just didn't seem to matter.

It just seems to me those schools had their chances to demonstrate how
important those issues were and they chose to vote otherwise. Maybe
it's a case of "what goes around, comes around?" As I said, I do feel
badly for them .. to a point. They have to live with their choices,
just like everyone else.

Just my two cents worth!

Steve
