[Husker] It is Done

Just to be clear, the CIC (the academic side of the Big Ten) does not receive any government funding. That $3.2 billion is the combined total that CIC schools receive from the federal government. Awards are granted to individual institutions, so Nebraska will not see a dime extra initially.

What the CIC does is gets us into a partnership to collaborate with the other Big 10 schools, and hopefully start receiving more in research grants. Think of it as an invitation to a party; it doesn't get us anything by itself, but it allows Nebraska to network with others.

Listening to the presentation now. Perlman went into some detail on
the academic benefits associated with the move. Dr. Tom is now
presenting the athletic point of view.

And I believe I read an article this week about how the academic side
at Penn State has improved, including salaries and research money,
since they joined. This is as close to a win-win that I can think of,
except for the big loss for the old Big 8 teams.
