"Chattel" is most commonly used to refer to slaves, and as such is a very
loaded term. He may have been trying to suggest that A&M, OU, etc. are
Texas' slaves, albeit in a very confusing and offensive manner. It's really
a bizarre use of the word. Let's just say Dennis Dodd's notoriety is
certainly not due to his literary "talent."
