After a week with only a home game against K State (which NU won
71-56), the women's basketball team:

* Moved up in the AP top 25 from #7 to #6, passing Duke (17-3) which
lost at home to Connecticut 81-48, won at home against Virginia Tech
69-38, and won at Maryland 58-57. NU trails #5 Tennessee (17-2, which
lost at Georgia 53-50 and won at LSU 55-43) by only six points
(832-826).

* Ranks #4/#4/#3 by Sagarin (overall, predictor, ELO), behind UConn,
Stanford, and Tennessee.

* Ranks #5 at realtimerpi.com, with Texas A&M (15-2) passing NU
after beating Texas Tech at home 69-54. NU plays at Texas Tech on
Wednesday.

* Ranks #4 at Palm's CollegeRPI, behind UConn, Stanford, and Tennessee.

In addition to the game at Texas Tech on Wednesday, NU travels to
Colorado on Saturday. Two weeks ago Colorado lost at Texas Tech
74-61. Since then, Tech lost at home to Texas 95-90 in OT and lost
at Texas A&M 69-54. Since the Tech game, Colorado lost at home
to Iowa State 68-62, won at Kansas State 63-57, and lost at home
to Oklahoma State 74-63.

Sagarin's predictor has NU over Texas Tech and Colorado by about
each 14 pts (96.50-79.14-3.84 against Texas Tech and 96.50-78.51-3.84
against Colorado).

These are winnable, important road games for NU before playing two
much tougher opponents, Oklahoma St. and Texas A&M, at home the
following week. Sagarin has NU and Texas A&M virtually even, but for
NU's home advantage. Oklahoma St. travels to Texas A&M this Sunday.
