[Husker] Women's Basketball

Nice info!

While I'm watching from afar in California, I've been reading everything I can about the team. I've read some great press about all the "girls." Coach Yori is, has been and will continue to be a real asset to UNL - She's a class act. I'm really happy to see a Husker women's basketball team rise to this level.

I also think that Mo's influence on the whole team has resulted in an increase in production and improvement for all. When a team gets to that "sweet spot" (like it appears Nebraska has) the sky's the limit!

It will be interesting to watch the Baylor game. It's my understanding that with ALL the really good, ranked Big 12 teams, Baylor is the team to beat this year.

It will also be interesting to see how the team handles a defeat - one will eventually happen along the line!

How do we match up against Baylor?

Thanks for the words.  It's been a fun year so far.  As far as the comment
about we are one injury away from a different season.  I am assuming the
poster meant a injury to 'MO' Griffin..
While this would be devastating, I feel this team as a lot of other parts.
Vonnie Turner is a 2-time Big 12 defensive team member who is playing like
two years ago after off season surgery.
'Nique Kelley has upgraded her game a lot and with her drive/penetration
offense takes a lot of pressure off the double/triple teams that 'Mo' gets.
Corey Montgomery, while weak on defense, is a pretty salty offensive
player.
Lindsey Moore is a freshman parade All-American who plays beyond her age.
Catherine Redmond off of the bench, while having no offensive moves, is a
very good defensive pressure player and great shot blocker.  She is putting
up
last years numbers while playing 11 minutes a game less this year.  And
Kala Kuhlmann & 'Tiny' Neals worked very hard in the off season and give
valuable support minutes.

And most importantly this team has bought in to the team concept and all
get along.  We hosted the team at a dinner last week.  The team all sat
around the large dining table and they were all
carrying on and giggling like a bunch of school girls, which they are.
They were all very nice and well-mannered.  And they all seemed enjoyed the
function.  Not any of the attitude that I'm here because I have to be
but I hate it.  And no coaches so they did not have to act nice because of
coaches observing.  In all my time watching and being around the teams I
can't think of any bad apples.  Coach Yori and staff seem to always recruit
very high quality individuals.

I wondered where you were with such an amazing season going on. Don't give
up, Nebraska basketball has always had a following. It is just that it has
been like that pretty girl who leads you on until you really believe you
have a chance, and then she dumps you.

I've always enjoyed listening to Connie Yori on the coach's show. I think
she is a good coach, and I am happy to see her have some success

Lynette,

You are not the only one to following the Husker women's basketball team.
I have followed and attended games  for years.
So far it's been an exciting year.  As far as messages on this list, forget
it.  I tried to comment years ago and got a collective yawn.
As far as that goes, men's basketball gets the same reaction here.  If it
isn't football or football related, forget it.  That's just the way it is
in 'Brasky.
