As you wrote, the schedule ranks are quite different. Thanks for
pointing out the other site.
Whether NU or Baylor (or Texas A&M or Oklahoma) should be viewed as
the best team, in terms of winning the regular season title, NU has
what may be a schedule advantage. With 5 of the 6 Big 12 South teams
(excepting Texas Tech) so strong and 3 of the Big 12 North teams
(K State, CU, and Missouri) not so strong, all of the South teams
have a tougher schedule. Even though NU plays at Baylor and Baylor
has two of the three top North teams at home, NU plays seven games
against the four weakest teams whereas each of the South teams plays
only five games against those opponents. On the other side, NU has
only nine games (with four road games) against the top seven teams,
whereas each South team has 11 games (and five or six road games)
against the top seven teams. On that basis, if the NU women play
to their potential, they look to be the conference favorite at this
point.
