Been to a major conference championship game
hat wasn't a sell-out? Of course
not.
I went to the 2009 Big 12 Championship game ... major enough?... that was not a sellout. 76211 in a stadium that holds 100,000 with an in state team in a brand new stadium people were dying to see. If you can't sell that out - not sure what would??? I agree with Mike - selling out a first round travel game in a 3 or4 game progression for even NE would be tough in early to mid December.

> Just curious...have you ever
traveled to a postseason game? Have you priced out
last-minute airfare, or keep in mind that the ticket prices
will probably start at $100 each? There's a reason
why many bowl games are played in converted baseball
stadiums that only hold 40k fans; that's all the market
can bear for games where the matchup is only known a couple
of weeks in advance.
Fans will bust open the bank to attend the national
championship game...but for the preliminaries, no.
They'll save the $2k to $3k they'd spend (and the
vacation time they'd have to burn) and hope their team
makes it to the big one.
Yes, Mike, I've been to many post-season games. Most recently the ChickFilA Bowl
n Atlanta and Big 12 championship game in Dallas. Last season to the Liberty
owl in Memphis, the year before that to the Gator Bowl in JAX. Lots more...so
hat's your point? But I'm curious too...have you ever traveled to a post
eason game? Cause if you think the quarter and semis of a national
hampionship tournament won't sell out, then it might be from inexperience cause
rother they will sell out like hell, and not in any converted baseball stadium
ither. But of course, this is all hypothetical. We really have nothing to
ompare it to. Trying to compare it to bowl games is ridiculous since comparing
he importance of a bowl game, any bowl game, to a tournament game would be
idiculous. How far in advance are conference championship games known in
dvance? Sometimes quite short. Been to a major conference championship game
hat wasn't a sell-out? Of course
not. I'll agree to disagree, it's cool. We won't know anytime soon that is
ertain.
