The idea that has made the most sense to me is to use the Rose/Sugar/Orange/Fiesta
bowls as the quarterfinal round.
Tthat's two fewer teams than the BCS currently takes, so that means adding two teams back
into the mix for those bowl games and then adding two more games, the semi-finals. (We already
have the BCS championship game, and it's already nearly a week after the bowl games, so the
'extending the season' argument seems to have been circumvented.)
The other bowl games would be unaffected.
The bowl games are already better than the NIT, IMHO, they're a chance for a 'feel good'
finish to the season for around 25 teams that wouldn't have made the round of 8.
That included Nebraska, though if Texas and Albama had been back in the bowl pool, the
Huskers might not have gone to the Holiday Bowl.
If Congress can solve this weighty problem, I can't wait to see what they do
for Jay Leno.
