[Husker] Leadership and Chemistry

I was thinking the same thing as the last two posters.  We lack leadership.
The QB has to take control and be the leader.  During the game our coaches
had to tell TM to speak louder so his teammates could hear him.  From
watching them play, I don't see any fire in TM or CG (like Tommy F or Scott
F.) Give me an undersized Joe Gantz any day.  He had fire in his belly.

The defense doesn't have that fiery leader either.  They play good defense
but who is the Grant Wistrom/C. Peter/K. Vandenbosch on this team?  

Another thing that really bothers me is the lack of fundamentals.  I watched
poor little truck driving school Boise State several times this year.  I was
amazed at how fundamentally sound they were.  They didn't get stupid
penalties, they didn't miss tackles, and they weren't out of position. I
blame poor fundamentals on poor coaching.

I'm a glass is half empty kind of guy so take the next comments with a grain
of salt.  We are going to rue the day that we left the Big 12.  It's going
to put a damper on away game fan participation.  Maybe not the first year,
but eventually the novelty of visiting each B10 stadium will wear off.
There will be no more close away games that fans can drive to and from on
game day.  My family in Western NE will not be able financially to attend 3
or 4 away games every year.  Interest in the team will wane and our home
sell out streak will probably end.  It is going to negatively affect our
recruiting in B12 country, TX in particular.  We may pick up a few extra
recruits in B10 country but the 5 & 4 stars will still go to OU, MU and PSU.

And that's my take and I'm sticking to it... at least until I change my
mind.

It sure was disappointing to lose 3 of the last 4.  Didn't see that coming.
I though we would lose to A&M, but I thought (hoped?) we had a real shot at
beating OK. (I was so excited in the first quarter of that game I thought I
was going to have a heart attack).

The thing that bothered me most about last night's game was the overall
ineptitude of the offense.  We never even challenged, never a threat, much
like the Texas game.  We just kind of looked like fools out there, we've all
seen it before over the years, and I really thought those days were over.
Can't really think of anyone to blame for it, the offense that is.  Seems
like we got by for a while this season but were finally exposed.  It may be
just the players aren't really that good and the coaching isn't really that
good.  That 3 man steamroll of our entire OL?  Ugh.

I hope SW gets the other job.  I don't think he is a particularly great OC,
but he seems like a good guy and there are so many people calling him out (I
guess rightfully so) that I'm afraid he may really get fired and that's
never a good thing.  If he gets the other job, everything parts well.

Any thoughts on Barney Cotton?  Another good guy and Husker to the core, but
throughout the season, the OL mistakes and penalties, the line simply did
not look well coached a good part of the time.  Not all the time, but I
wonder about a change there as well.
