[Husker] We Want......

Unfortunately, the Huskers had as much enthusiasm for the game as I did. I
almost forgot to watch it and now wish I had. I actually turned this game
off about halfway through the 4th quarter. That is something I can't
remember ever doing and I'm 66 years old so I've seen allot of very great
football as well as some very poor NU football. One of the announcer said
that the NU O line was laughing at the UW D line in the first game. If
thats true, they got their just desserts.
I wonder if we really do have the athletes on offense. The only receiver
with speed is Paul and he was hobbled. Reed is a "tweener"; small for a
tight end and not fast enough to be a deep threat. I looked at our roster
and I believe next year we will be even thinner at WR. We are a defense 1st
and 2nd recruiting team with the offense an after thought. We recruited one
2 star WR last year at the very end of the recruitment period. He was not
heavily recruited by other teams. This year we have one WR recruit. We had
one RB recruit last year that I'm aware of and one this year. Shawn Watson
or whoever is going to have to have some better skill players. Someone needs
to inform the Pelini brothers that defense can't always win the games.
I am very concerned about next years schedule. The Big Ten is getting more
balance. Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota were the weak sisters for years.
Both Indiana and Illinois aren't that bad now. OU, Iowa, MSU, PSU, UM & WI
have all been very good teams and will be hard to beat.

Ahem...........the problem is the offense. We have athletes, but it is
clear we do not know how to use them. Watching Cody Green passing is like
like watching Freddy Krueger play Mozarts Concerto.
God forbid we try a middle screen pass when the Huskies force the middle.
Where has Kinnie gone?
Do we no longer have the true option out of the I? We have a fullback who
can block, which might have been an option since no one with a two digit
jersey that started with a 5, 6, or 7 seemed to be able to do so.
Where has the tight end gone? Did Cotton even look back for the ball even
once?
For those of you think Mangino carries too much baggage (someone else's
joke, not mine), there are some options: even Doug Martin (no not me, and
not the Boise State running back, the other one who used to be Kent State's
coach)
