Hey Scott...no I have not met Pelini in person.  He is a public figure with
lots of public stuff that we have all seen and heard to base an opinion or
evaluation on.  So to answer your questions:

Yes, I can really say I dislike the guy without having met him.
Yes, I am really basing this dislike on quotes, some in
newspapers/online/wherever....and from what I have heard him say from his
own mouth from his pressers, his coaches show, etc. and his actions...some
of which we all see in the heat of the moment on the sidelines.

If my dislike seems overblown, I'm probably not writing too well or trying
too hard to make myself clear.  It really isn't, I'm not even remotely
heated about it.  I don't like the guy and think he's a jerk.  Good football
coach though.  There was a guy I used to see at our local Blockbuster back
when I rented tapes and DVDs that I didn't like and thought was a jerk,
didn't know him on a personal level either.  He always knew where to find
the movie I was looking for though, good at his job  It's about the same.
