[Husker] Casey Martinez Talks to the LA Times

Exactly.  Taylor Martinez (and members of the medical staff who were treating him) were delayed in returning to the game at hand for this phone call...not to mention the time spent retrieving the phone in the first place. Then Martinez apparently declined treatment of his injury on Sunday.  Both are huge problems, and quite frankly, Bo Pelini was having to do Casey Martinez's job.

I understand Taylor and his dad are close, and that's a good thing for the most part.  We've got a problem in this country where there are some parents who don't care enough.  But Taylor is the starting quarterback for a ranked college football team, and it appears that Taylor and his dad are too close for his own good.  The time to place that return phone call was after the game.  It wasn't an emergency.  Taylor's focus needed to be on the task at hand, which was the game.

Here’s some facts for you:

Players ARE NOT allowed to use cell phones during a game,
everyone on the team knows this.  He not only violated that rule, but stalled
coming back out to the field so he could talk to him.

That is absolutely 100% inexcusable.

So Taylor returned his dad's call, who he is
extremely close to, to let him

know he was ok.  And for that the head coach blows a gasket during the

game.  Bo's a bully, a control freak, and that's just a start for the
issues

this guy has.  Pretty darn good football coach though.  And Taylor is
a baby

and a mama's boy (or in this case daddy's boy)???   I don't think so.

Taylor loves his father and his father loves him and they are extremely

close.  Maybe the father goes too far sometime, but the son is just fine.
