I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the tendon(s) in the big toe, I've never 
had it but I played with several guys who did and it was rather unpleasant 
(to them)! Not sure how it can happen, but could be from planting the foot 
and cutting one way or another repeatedly.

Im not sure about the broken foot issues, but the turf toe thing (which this
probably is) would be great to stop. I get TT from playing soccer and it is
one of the craziest injuries I've ever had.
