I suspect they wanted to have all 12 schools included somewhere and wound up
with 13 schools, since Stagg was the coach at the University of Chicago,
one of the founding teams in the Big Ten.

Rimington was probably the best OL in Nebraska history, but not really
the best player in Nebraska history. (Let the debate begin!)

The choices of names seem artificial and clumsy in a few places.

Are Drew Breez and Bob Griese really the two best QBs in the history of
those 12 teams? Have none of the other 11 schools had great QBs that
Purdue gets them both?

I have no problem with Butkis's name on the linebacker trophy, he basically
DEFINED the position in modern football, but Fitz might be a bit of a stretch.
And isn't Penn State 'Linebacker U'?

There is mention of John Cappelletti or several other Heisman Trophy
winners, including all of Nebraska's winners. (But then again, I saw
Archie Griffin play, and I still think he only deserved one of his trophies.)

Of course, it is also true that the players or their families had to
give permission to use their names, and maybe some other names weren't
available.
