I remember when the Inquirer was the bottom of the printed news media.
I can remember when the Weird Herald seemed to have the best interests
of the state and Husker football in mind. I can remember when the Weird
Herald was delivered proudly to the outer reaches of the state. I can
remember when the Weird Herald said they were not going to deliver past
Grand Island because they owned local daily papers that would deliver
the news at less cost. At the time I thought the local daily papers
were over priced and poorer news quality than the Weird Herald. The two
years since they tried to force out state Nebraska to buy their second
rate daily newspapers at an inflated price has allowed the Weird Herald
to catch up with them and join the Inquirer at the bottom.
The unfortunate reality of all of this is some of us (my self included)
actually put stock in some of the stories from Shatel, Chatelain and
other "reporters" fro the Weird Herald. I suspect the stories from the
Florida papers are just as news worthy.
