I'm with Mike on this one. I'm not sure what some of you all have
been smokin' and I'm not entirely sure I'd like to join you. As
Sipple quoted in his article last night:
"Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne was surprised Wednesday night
upon hearing about the (Miami) Herald's report.
"Bo's never talked to me about anything like that," Osborne said. "If
he got permission (to talk to Miami), he didn't get it from me.""
I'm not sure what kind of wiggle room you have there, but if you can
see some daylight, by all means, run for it.
And where did Tressel come in to this conversation? Somebody
mentioned that Bo might be interested if Tressel retires. If Tressel
retires, he's done. He's not looking for another position. And the
way the Big 10 is set up right now, he's not going to feel any heat
for a long time (beating Michigan is the #1 reason for getting fired
there, and that hasn't been much of a contest for a while now). And
really, he's 58, been there since 2001, where's he going to go that's
better than what he has now???
And really, is Pitt someone's idea of a great job? Really?
Seriously? Have another snort on me.
Christmas wishes for the new year.
I don't dislike our current OC, but I think after the last two years,
a change is necessary. We seem to have the talent, but the job's not
getting done. I don't know if its schemes, play calling, general
coaching of players, or what. I just want to see Bo address that
issue in the off season. Come the spring game, I want to be
comfortable with where we're headed.
And Dr. Tom, get Bo some media relations coursework this winter. He
doesn't have to be a Doc Sadler, but at least when he talks to the
media and the fans, he has to tell us something, enough that we'd want
to continue to listen to him. We have a decent journalism department
there; enroll him in 4 hours of "How to Handle the Media" or something
like that.
