Of course, a reason why the U could be behind this not necessarily that they really thought Bo would be an option. If Kirby Hocutt leaks (unnamed) that he is interested in Bo it might make his call to any other prospect (Gruden, McDaniel or anyone else) have some leverage. In other words, he can create more buzz about his position by leaking names of people that are supposedly on his list. He can then call his actual prospects and they will be even more intrigued to learn that they, not Bo or others, are the real target. Miami is not the same job that it was 5-1 years ago, and I suspect that Hocutt will have to create some positive buzz to get the upper echelon interested. Remember, he is now competing with Florida in terms of luring a coach--just in that state, which do you think is a more attractive option? My guess is that the Meyer announcement sent Hocutt into a frizzy because he was immediately upstaged. Thus, leak names to reclaim the media spotlight.

By the way, Carl is probably more of a worry than Bo. Remember that Hocutt was AD at Ohio while Carl was here. While the earlier reports of LA Tech (or wherever) that mentioned Carl was not much of a worry, a move from NU DC to Miami HC is a pretty good step in my opinion. I wonder if TO/BO were asked about permission to talk with Carl, or if that is even necessary?
