As of yet, he hasn't left, voluntarily or otherwise, so debating his
replacement seems a tad premature.
One of the things that separates average coaches from great coaches is how they
deal with their assistant coaches. Some have a steady stream of turnover as
their assistants move on to better opportunities, others fire coaches who
don't seem to be performing, and still others keep their coaching staffs
intact for long periods of time.
Osborne tended to keep his coaching staff intact, though his replacements over
the years seemed to do fairly well.
I'm still of the opinion that Osborne did Solich no favors by asking
his assistants to stick around for several years, so Frank didn't get
the chance to put together his own staff until it was essentially too late,
as Pederson already had him in his gun sights. But remember it was Frank
who brought Bo Pelini to Lincoln in the first place.
Callahan wasn't around long enough to have established much of
a pattern, and Bo is still a work in progress.
