Neither team is what they were back in September.

I have *no doubt* that Pelini will have the Blackshirts ready.  They will
not take the fetal position.  I found a link on Pelini's coaching background
and if it makes y'all feel better... Here's what his defenses have allowed
in Bowl games:

2003 - w/ Nebraska - gave  3 pts to Michigan State (w/#2 scoring def unit)
2004 - w/ Oklahoma - gave 55 pts to USC (w/#3 scoring def unit, oops)
2005 - w/ LSU      - gave  3 pts to Miami (w/ #3 scoring def unit)
2007 - w/ LSU      - gave 14 pts to Notre Dame (w/#20 scoring def unit)
2008 - w/ Nebraska - gave 21 pts to Clemson (w/#80 scoring def unit)
2009 - w/ Nebraska - gave  0 pts to Arizona (w/#1 scoring def unit)

They'll bring the #8 scoring defense unit to San Diego this time.

Over the last two years, the offense seemed to be well-prepared for the
Gator and Holiday bowls; scoring 26 and 33 points, respectively.  At the
very least they executed a game plan and performed good enough to bring W's
back to Lincoln.

Be realistic here.  No matter how dumb it seems for a rematch with a team
that barely became bowl eligible, we still get the extra practice sessions
and by all observations, this team could use those sessions to finish off
this year strong and move toward Big 10 next year.  We win, we'll be 11-3,
another step forward in the Bo regime.  Who among you would have taken 11-3
four years ago?  And of those three losses, we beat ourselves in two and the
refs got the third one.  No sour grapes, good teams should be able to
overcome those obstacles and we did not do that.  But as was stated below,
SO much better than the bowl for Texas this year!

Nebraska should never accepted the invite. Why play a team they beat before
in regular season in a no account bowl? Would have been better to just stay
home.
