Former UCLA chancellor Chuck Young (note the word FORMER) is spearheading a campaign to convince the Pac-10 to reject Colorado and Utah's efforts to join the Pac-10. The chancellors of the Pac-10 have not formally approved expansion yet.

Former San Francisco Chronicle columnist has more about Young's opposition to Colorado and Utah joining the Pac-10.

“You have two schools in Washington, two in Oregon, two in northern
California, two in southern California, two in Arizona, so you can have
a complete round robin in football. I don’t see any way the other
schools can be brought in without affecting the rivalries between the
southern and northern California schools, for instance.”
You would have to think that the Pac-10 chancellors gave informal approval to Colorado and Utah prior to the formal invitation, much like the Big Ten chancellors informally approved Nebraska...but what if there's a formal campaign to oppose it...especially led by a respected former leader?
