Steve-

I double checked and your numbers are basically correct. I counted one less freshman but my eyes don't work well anymore.

I would postulate that the numbers distribution are explained by some of these phenomenon.

1) Callahan's walk-on philosophy.

2) Callahan's departure

3) Pelini's walk-on philosophy

4) General program attrition - 'handwriting on the wall, I'm not playing'

I counted 39 Freshman, 40 RedshirtFresh, 22 Sophomores, 26 Juniors, 14 Seniors.

Lack of Seniors = coaching change possibly plus old walk-on philosophy.
Abundance of fresh and redfresh = new walk-on change
Lack of others = old walk-on thoughts.

For perspective (and probably irrelevant!) , the 1995 Roster in the press guide listed 177 players. (Why 1995 - it's in my office!).

122 players with numbers.

53 Freshman without numbers. 2 sophomores without numbers (Eric Warfield and Shevin Wiggins - ever hear of those guys?)

35 Freshman with numbers (would they be the equivalent of redshirt freshman?)
36 Sophomores with numbers
29 Juniors with numbers
22 Seniors with numbers

OK, my one semi-factual contribution to the Husker List for Fall of 2009. No clue that it means anything.

Hey, where can I get a 1962 replica jersey online? No bidding on the whole enchilada thing for me.
