I as well hope our trainer staff is better. Considering it was just the ACL, he could have continued to play with not as much pain as you think and it just feels weak. When I tore my ACL I also tore up a lot of menicus/cartilage so I couldn't even walk without pain, but my friend that tore just the ACL, he was fine, running around even playing vollyball.

Subject: [Husker] Baylor's QB
Baylor's all everything QB, has an isolated tear in his ACL. He is out for the season they say. The injury occurred in the first series of the game and they allowed him to go back in and play. I am sure they did not know the severity of the knee injury at that moment, but they were not playing in the National Championship game. I hope the NU Doctors and Trainers are more protective of their athletes than it sounds like Baylor is.
I know NU has many battles to face before looking ahead to Baylor, but this is hard to understand.
