[Husker] The VaTech game was a lot like the 1996 ASU game

Yes, this was already pointed out to me right after I originally posted
it. All the confusion of this weekend and it slipped my mind. Call it a
"gross mental error" like a defensive player might make!

which would have done them no good what so ever

I thought about this a lot as well, that perhaps a shorter field
would have made it slightly easier to defend Taylor if the Huskers
failed to convert the 4th down, but then again VT would have only needed
to get about 25 yards or so to be in FG range.

I too have to disagree as well. I remember getting physically
sick over the ASU game in '96.
This one felt bad, but not quite like that.

That said, perhaps to stir the pot a bit more, at the time, I
was thinking we should punt on 4th and 1 during our last possession, but
now I'm thinking that we should have gone for it - QB sneak/Helu
counter? Hindsight being 20-20, it now seems like less of a roll of the
dice than what actually happened.

	Scott,

How do you figure it was a "gross mental lapse?" How do you
know what Matt was thinking and why?

I'm sorry, I just don't think a mental error or miscue on one
play caused us to lose the game. It caused the score to shift which
resulted in our loss --- BUT, allowing the runback on the initial
kickoff, not getting into the endzone and settling for 5 field goals,
not getting a first down to keep the ball out of VT's hands at the end
of the game, they all contributed to our loss --- and many included
mental errors ------- including ones by the coaches!
