People have to remember as well that Pelini and anyone else associated with the program is not going to say this was a devastating loss and harp on it, even though I will bet most if not all the coaches really do think it was devastating. To lose a game in the last minute, regardless of what could/should/would have been done earlier is devastating, PERIOD.

Admitting it publicly will only undermine what the coaches are trying to accomplish.

A very good post...and all good points.  I guess I should have said there is nothing positive about losing this game rather than winning it.  I was wrong.  My issue was with those who seem to be taking the position that losing this game was a good thing in disguise.  It wasn't.  You're right that you have to make the best out of it now that it is done.  But upside compared to winning that game?  Child, please.

I've got to quibble with David here.  Losing is never good. but you
can take positive lessons from the game.  If this team cannot learn
from this loss and get positive messages from it, there is no hope for
them, and they will continue to lose games because they can't finish
off an opponent (gee, doesn't that sound a lot like 2007!!).

But based on Pelini's words, but mostly his tone, after the game tells
me that he isn't going to let them get nothing positive out of this
game.  They're gonna get an earful at the film session.  They're gonna
get an earful at the first practice, and you can bet they're gonna get
an earful just before the next game.

Good gracious, who among us really and truly thought that Helu would
have nearly 200 yards rushing against this team?  Who among us thought
we'd control Taylor's feet so completely, limiting him to no run
longer than 4 yards?  Who among us thought Taylor could throw the ball
as well as he did, and what should that tell us about our expectations
going into a game?  There's lots of positives to take away from this.
Yeah, we shoulda won, but it wasn't a total bust.

If nothing else, we can learn not to lose again.  That'd be positive,
wouldn't it?
