[Husker] Pride

I couldn't agree with you more, Steve.
I would add that this year, players like Helu, Prince, and Suh will continue to "stand out" mostly because their extraordinary efforts are driving the Huskers forward in spite of first year quarterbacks, etc. Henery was terrific. 5 field goals. Excellent job there too.
Good game over all. Tough, tough loss. We should have won that game, it was ours for the taking and we couldn't get it over the goal line! I'm sure Watson and Pelini will be working on that, as well as the blown coverage!
It's also a shame we started the game in the hole - why did Pelini let the Huskers line up for a standard kick off to start the game? Why weren't they kicking to the corners from the very beginning?

I realize a lot of HuskerListers are disappointed and upset by the squeaker lost to Virginia Tech, but my take is a little different.
I'm proud of this team.
Every early-season game is also a practice, and this one was real test for the Huskers who played with passion and pride. In my book they passed the test with flying colors, and this tough loss will provide them with incentives 'way beyond what a narrow victory might have done.
This year's team - - like last year's squad - - is very much a work in progress, and now the coaches and players alike realize what needs to repaired, what needs to be revamped, and what they must to be competitive in Columbia and beyond.
I wrote earlier that I did/do not believe this is "our" year and that next year will be our breakout year, even without Suh. We are not only heading in the right direction but accelerating.
