Agreed. My sense is that they want Taylor to beat us with his arm not with his legs. At that point in the game it was probably a good strategy.
Also twice in the second half rather than going for a long FG we chose to punt and pin them deep. I'm willing to bet Henery would have made at least one of those FGs. Still both decisions seemed correct at the time.

Subject: [Husker] pressure on quarterback
I was definitely disappointed in the final score, but quite pleased
with the overall play of the Cornhusker team. They certainly made
some mistakes, but were competitive--even in control--for much of
the game. Steve and Dick summed up well, in my opinion.
My question has to do with some of the Virginia Tech passing plays,
especially the last two. There was some initial pressure on Taylor
that he evaded. As he continued to look for an open receiver, he
was relatively stationary. Two or three Nebraska rushers would come
open and have a relatively clear run at him, but they seemed to hang
back and not go after him.
I understand that Taylor's moves often allow him to dodge bull
rushes and some caution is needed to contain him, but the rushers
seemed almost frozen in place. At that point couldn't more movement
toward Taylor have been used to get some pressure on him? Maybe the
defenders were tired?
Anyway, would be interested in thoughts on this matter from those
who have more football knowledge than I.
