[Husker] A Few Thoughts

1. Something no one has mentioned: the Owls were unable to score a
touchdown on the Husker D even when they were first-and-goal on the
four yard line. Last year it would have been different.
2. Special teams played an order of magnitude better than last year.
3) Two interceptions and a recovered fumble constitute another big
improvement. If the team hadn't dropped two other ideal interception
opportunities and if one interception hadn't been called back due to
a penalty, the improvement would have been truly radical.
4) Players on the lower rungs of the depth chart appeared in the
first few moments of the game. Bo was serious, real serious, about
finding out about their abilities early on. That has to be a big plus
for the coming games.
5) Fall camp talk about Crick was more than mere hype.
6) Bo's development as a Head Coach shows visibly on the sidelines.
I, for one, am deeply gratified to see the walk-on program producing
solid results once again. We still don't know how good this Husker
team is going to be, but we can guess how good it can become in 2010,
2011, and beyond.
