Looking over the remaining games for North teams, there could very easily be a four way tie at 4-4 for the division championship. At the very least, unless KSU is able to play with and beat what we once believed were some of the tougher teams in the division, the division champ will have three losses and probably have a two way tie with that scenario. Here are the teams with remaining games:
KSU 3 - 1 Beat CU, ISU AM Lost to TT Remaining @OU, MU, KU, @NU
ISU 2 - 2 Beat NU, BU Lost to KSU, KU Remaining @AM, OSU, CU, @MU
KU 1 - 2 Beat ISU Lost to CU, OU Remaining @TT, @KSU, NU, @TX, MU
NU 1 - 2 Beat MU Lost to ISU, TT Remaining @BU, OU, @KU, KSU, @CU
CU 1 - 2 Beat KU Lost to TX, KSU Remaining MU, AM, @ISU, @OSU, NU
MU 0 - 3 Beat Lost to NU, OSU, TX Remaining @CU, BU, @KSU, ISU, KU
(predicted losses in bold)
I don't see KSU going any better than 1-3 the rest of the way, more likely 0-4. ISU could split at 2-2. KU possibly goes 3-2, losing against both South teams. NU could go 3-2 if they win at CU. CU at best goes 2-3, more likely 1-4. MU finishes strong at 4-1. After all that, the standings would be:
ISU 4 - 4
NU 4 - 4
MU 4 - 4
KU 4 - 4
KSU 3 - 5
CU 2 - 6
Under this scenario, I believe KU is North champion having beaten all the teams it tied with at 4 - 4. But NU still has a shot if they finish 4-1 for a 5-3 record. Someone will more than likely emerge to tie them at 5-3 if that's the case but I don't think it would be ISU, more than likely would be Missouri. NU holds that tie breaker.
The North is still up for grabs, all it takes is a team with a little extra desire to get to the championship game. Let's hope the Huskers can get it figured out.
