[Husker] The running game

Our best player on offense is clearly Roy Helu...by a wide margin. I kept wondering during the game why he wasn't getting more touches. And when he did it was off zone reads and such. Whatever happened to a running play for a running back from a running formation? These plays still work, they haven't become less effective because the Spread is now the thing to do. If your best player is a running back, let him run. And while our Oline is not super, neither is Tech Dline.
Then Sipple (I do not like Sipple much) on Sunday morning criticizes SW for lack of power running plays, which I'm thinking might be the same thing I was thinking during the game.
Today Sipple (did I mention I don't like him much?) writes:
"Note to self: Any future criticism of Watson — particularly his apparent reluctance to use power running plays — should be made with the understanding that sending Helu between the tackles might not be the best idea given the junior’s shoulder issue."
So maybe that's it. But it sure feels like the honeymoon with Watson is over. The big difference between this year and last? He had better players last year. The biggest difference? Joe Ganz.
