They did not replay this play on the big screen because of the mass confusion on the play, and once the decision to do an instant replay is made, they stop the video board.  However, listening to game highlights on the drive home, Greg Sharpe, the Nebraska play-by-play announcer immediately called it a lateral, so it was obvious to him that it was a live ball.
