[Husker] Taking Game Pics

Just a question to ask cause I do not know the answer about taking pictures with a regular digital camera during a game..............
 
at Kansas State a year ago, I was in the end zone on the locker room side of the field.  i had my digital camera and was taking pictures of the game as I traveled from Concord, NC to the game.  No video shots, just still shots.  Just a regular small digital camera.  
 
I took a picture when KSU had the ball down near the red zone and security immediately came up and said no pictures during a play.  I did it a second time and was told if I did it again I'd have to leave.
 
Is that standing policy at college games or was it a KSU thing?
