[Husker] Mizzou's strength vs Our Strength

I sure hope he is right about our pass defense.  I'm not sold yet but I've got my fingers crossed.  The same caveats that the author noted about Missouri's passing stats also apply to our pass defense.  It was done against 3 Sun Belt teams and Tyrod Taylor.  So while Gabbert hasn't seen a defense with our stats, we haven't seen a QB with his.  He is young...let's go rattle his cage some and see how he handles it.

It's big game night tonight.  Awesome.  Let's hunker down in front of the tube, Listers.

I got this from a message board, I've emailed the poster in the past and he
didn't mind that I post this stuff and he came up with this today:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------

What's most impressive about Mizzou. What's most impressive about us.

Let's look at this....

I. The Most Impressive Thing About Mizzou:

Blaine Gabbert's stats---some of the very best in the nation.

--No Interceptions in 131 Pass Attempts.

--66% completion rate

--Pass Efficiency Rating: 169 (#4 in the nation)

But it must be noted... Those stats were generaged in beating....

--#91 Illinois (1-3; Win over Illinois State)
--#100 Bowling Green (1-4; Win over Troy)
--#127 Furman (3-2; Wins over Presbyterian, Chattanoga, Western Carolina)
--#92 Nevada (1-3; Win over UNLV)

Weak Pass Defenses:

A) Percentage of Completions Allowed:

--66%: Illinois
--64%: Furman
--62%: Bowling Green
--60%: Nevada

B) Pass Defense Efficiency Ratings:

--136: #89 in the nation (Bowling Green)
--138: #92 in the nation (Furman)
--141: #98 in the nation (Illinois)
--166: #119 in the nation (Nevada)

II. The Most Impressive Thing About Nebraska:

Pass Defense:

A) Percentage of Pass Completions Allowed:

--50.4% (Only about a dozen teams are better: e.g., USC--49%, LSU--49%,
Alabama--49%, Florida--50%, Virginia Tech--46%.)

B) Pass Defense Efficiency Rating:

--97.7: #16 in the nation

The Bottom Line:

Young Gabbert has had a good debut.... but against weak pass defenses.

What he'll see tonight is a quantum leap better.

There you go.

Just some things to think about...

Skylar
